The Celestron AstroMaster 70EQ combines a classic 70mm refractor with a lightweight German equatorial mount and makes a fine beginner telescope. A 70 mm refractor is the smallest aperture telescope that most people would seriously consider for astronomical observation. That being said, bright, this telescope delivers clear images of the Moon and planets. It is easy to see the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn. We caution that not all beginners, especially young children, will find it easy to use a German equatorial mount. If you are looking for a telescope in this size for a youngster, we highly recommend the AstroMaster 70AZ as a better alternative. OVERVIEW
