About Explore Scientific Telescopes
Since its establishment, Explore Scientific has been on a mission to make astronomy accessible to as many people as possible, with cost-effective telescopes and accessories that maintain high-quality viewing experiences. Starting off with two lines of refractors and a rather unique Maksutov-Newtonian telescope coined the David Levy Comet Hunter, Explore Scientific has continued to expand their telescope lineup.
Explore Scientific Telescope Series
Skies Unlimited’s catalog of Explore Scientific telescopes includes the following series:
- AR Doublet Series: Explore Scientific Achromatic Doublet Series Refractors represent an excellent value in medium to large aperture refractors. A Doublet, commonly called an achromatic lens or achromat, is a lens designed to limit the effects of chromatic and spherical aberration. These achromatic lenses are corrected to bring two wavelengths into focus in the same plane. On top of these lenses, these Explore Scientific refractor telescopes feature adjustable lens cells should the optical collimation ever need adjustment. These telescopes are excellent options for deep space observing at low to medium power.
- ED APO FCD1 Series: Explore Scientific FCD1 Series Refractors offer apochromatic triplet performance at a more modest price point than most competing telescopes. Apochromatic lenses are designed to bring three widely separated visible wavelengths, red, green and blue, into focus in the same plane.
- ED APO FCD100 Triplet Series: Explore Scientific ED APO FCD100 Triplet Series Refractors rely on low index FCD-100 glass and apochromatic lenses, which are designed to bring three widely separated visible wavelengths, into focus in the same plane. The result is an Explore Scientific triplet refractor that produces images with superior color correction and contrast.
