About Starlight Xpress

Starlight Xpress, Ltd. is a specialized company, producing cooled CCD cameras for low-noise imaging applications. First established in 1991, Starlight Xpress based its company around the production of compact, innovative CCD camera designs. These high-performance cameras quickly gained popularity and are now prevalent amongst both amateur and professional astroimagers, favored for their compact sizes and competitive prices. Now, the Trius collection of deep-sky cooled CCD cameras has become a new favorite in their lineup, maximizing on Starlight Xpress’ promise to provide plenty of power in a small package.

Key Features of Starlight Xpress Cameras

  • Extremely fast 2 million pixel per second image dowload speed.
  • Powered USB hub for connection of up to three devices, such as an auto guder, filter wheel, or focuser, while only one wire returns to your PC.
  • Advanced two stage cooling provides up to 40 degrees Celsius delta T from ambient.
  • Fused silica optical window with a 7 layer anti-reflective coating offers exceptional strength and heat transfer characteristics to minimize potential for dewing of the front window during humid weather.
  • Argon filled CCD chamber to ensure there is no moisture to condense on the CCD during the cooling process.
  • Unique design allows the front plate of the camera to be orthogonally aligned to ensure that the CCD and the optics are parallel to each other. This enables the user to adjust for any collimation issues throughout the whole optical train, to ensure pinpoint stars across the entire field.
